Near Marietta, Ga. Nov. 19th 1864.
My Dear Sister:
As this is our last opportunity to send mail I will write you a few lines to-day. Yesterday I wrote to mother and sent her a check on the County Treasury for $175, which I hope will arrive safely. Should it not come to hand however, mother can draw the money all the same when the money comes, as both my name and hers will be on the books.
It is not probable that we shall remain here many days longer;—perhaps not more than a day or two. I am in good health and spirits now, and look forward to our trip without dread. The most unpleasant thing will be our deprivation of mail privileges. You must write all the same though. Direct to 1st Brigade, 1st Division 17th Army Corps, Atlanta, Ga.
The weather has not been very cold here yet, and we have had comparatively little unpleasant weather.
I wrote yesterday that I had a plenty of stamps but as we are to go so far away mother had better send a few more so as to have them ready when I reach my destination.
And now for the present good-bye, and dont forget
Your aff. Brother,
George.
