Dear friend it is with the greatest pleasure that I take in penning you these few lines I am here at this place enjoying myself very much indeed since I have got over my spell of sickness I think I shall be able to go to camp before long the army is not doing anything at present. I suppose you heard of the raid that G[?] made in Miss it extended as far as Abberdeen they destroyed everything on their march through Miss. Sherman has fell back to Jackson & Pearl River My Brigade is about / Demopolis, Ala. when you recd this letter let me know all of the particulars concerning the army in Ga and also about the recent battles fought as I have no more to news to inform you a bout I will close
