Dear Brother
how are you this eaving I am well and hope these fiew lines will find you well and enjoying your self nicely we are giting along very well now it is frosty nights hear now Oh! William we have got our dress suit now we got a hy crownd hat with a feather in it with a bugle on it our cots are frock cots dark pants so you se we are / very well dress we got a litle while a go some under cloths and blue pants we are drilled midling hard we have three brigade drills in a weak then we have Compny drill and squad drill Regement drill Oh! I would like to come and se you very much but I can not just now Oh! I was glad to hear that you liked it in camp well it is a joyis life to live I think Oh you sed you was a going to have your pay now William you must send your money home that is all you can spare / and I will so when if ever we go home we can by a peace of land some wharse now be carfull of your health and do the best you can and trust in god that he may sustane us and keep us and at last that we may go home and enjoy peace but rember that we must counker or die I never will turn my back to the enemy of our Country far better lay my bones to bleach on the Batle field then have that good flag of ours disgraced and dishonored when I think of our four Fathers who fought and / blead for it if we do not conqure I never shall go home. now I mus stop for this time give my best respecks to all I know and write as soon as you git this Oh [?] from Cameron sends his respesk to you and Myron Miller ses he would like to se you so good night for this time from
