Hakers Town Mariland July 18th/61
 
Father  Dear sir
I send you a few lines to let you know that I am still aflote We arived her on the fifteenth we left Camp Hamelton on the twelfth We ware on bord the cars three days & four nights. We expected to hav stoped at Harras burg PA but on ariving we found no preparations for us and came on to Hakers Town Mariland Head quarters of General Pattersons command 
 
We ar in the midst of the enemys country but I do not feel much alarmed yet We ar all feeling fine and enjoy good helth I hav lived well sence we hav ben here we can by any thing at all of fruit kind
 
Our camp is 5 miles from whare the firs Rigement of W.V. had the Battle You hav perhaps herd all the perticulars We have just drawn our rations for five day whare we will go then I cannot say
 
We war received along the road with grate enthusiasm / at ever point whare we stoped we war provided with all we could eat and drink consisting of every thing that was good it was provided principaly by the Ladies
 
We came by way of Chicago, Clevland Ohio Buffalo NY &c
 
You must excuse me I hav not got time to rite particulars I will do so som other time I wish you would right amediatly
 
The sitizens have a good opinion of the Wisconsin Boys but of tenn Rigements that has camped her ours is sed to bee the best /
 
They call us the bloody Badgers you will
