George B. St. John
George B. St. John was born around 1840 in Vermont to William St. John and Mary Torrey. He married Annie E. Donnell on August 14, 1860, and they had at least two children: Georgiana, born around 1864; and Mildred, born around 1878. They lived in Waltham, Massachusetts, and St. John worked as a watchmaker.

He enlisted in the Union army on June 29, 1861, and he mustered in as a private in Company H of the 16th Massachusetts Infantry later that day. The regiment took part in the Seven Days’ Battles. He fell ill during the summer of 1862 and spent the following months in a general hospital in Fortress Monroe. He was discharged for disability on February 13, 1863.

St. John settled in Boston, Massachusetts, after leaving the army, and he resumed his work as a watchmaker. By 1880, they employed at least one white servant. They returned to Waltham in the late 1800s. He applied for a federal pension in August 1891 and eventually secured one. He died in Massachusetts on November 10, 1918.
