I take my pen in hand this morning to inform you that I am well at the present time only I have got somthing like the flux working on me the health of our Compney is very bad at this time But it is not as bad as it has bin I haven eney news at this time only thay is fightting at Ritchmond Virgina I supose we is ganeing the day theare I am in hopes that we will whipt the dirned yankes at that place
You will not write to me I have wrote to you and you haven answerd my letter yeat
I heard that Cousin D F had got home and I wold like very mutch to know if he has got home and if he has tell him to write to me and be sure and tell me all that he saw when the yankes got him tell him to recolect that we was friends all ways and not forget to write to me tell him that I wount to hear from him very bad tell him that I heard that he was very sick when he got to Jonesboro
I tell you that we have got grate deal of rane hear at this time I am a frade that you have got so mutch rain in Moore that our folks cant make a good cropt I wold be glad to see you all once more this law that is past I dont like it for we cant get to go home till the ware is ended I wold like to heare how the cropes is coming a long upt in Moore County heare the cropes down heare in [?] is very good at present the wheat cropes down heare is good we expect to move ten miles a bove heare to morrow we wold a moved to day but it was so weet we have got the best Col in the Southern Confedracy he wount let us stand guard when it is a raining nor when the ground is damp he sayes that is what kill so meney of the men is standing guard I tell you that the provisions is deare heare when a man dont take a reasonebl price for his stuf we goes and takes it but we cant get non know
Duncan thompson got a discharge to day and is goento start this evening his father and Duncan keith came after him yesterday Jole Goodman died about three weaks ago at wilson tell father folkes that I am well and them howdy tell uncle Neill howdy and Aunt Margret and the children howdy for me tell uncle Dugald and Aunt Cathrine and Aunt Poly howdy for me write soon to me as you get this nothing more at present H M McDonald
