My Deare cousin
            I received your letter yesterday and was glad truley glad to heare from you and to heare you all was well and enjoying good health. J. A. Patterson and J.D.T. Sminth got in to camp yesterday and was very weat it had rained a grate deal Before thay got to camp thay said thay enjoid themselves fine while Ray was at home I think I cold enjoy myself if I was at home better then I ever did in my life for all it is war times that ought not to ceep one from having fun I dont think thear is eney harm in haveing some fun JDT dos look very well but I tell you war will bring eney boy down that will try it. you spoke of sending me a letter I never got it but I sent you one some to weakes ago and haven received a letter till yesterday J.A.P. gave me one I do hate the way letters do get misplased theare is severl of them gets lost
 
I told N.S.P. to answer your letter and he said he never got the letter I guess it was misplaced like [?]. I heard that Brother A.D. and Sister M.J. were upt to see you all I wold ben glad to a ben upt theare at that time I think she is very nice and she is a good girl I thot a grate deal of her 
 
I heard that the 63 Cavelery have disbanded and went home to recruit theare horses I do wish thay wold disband us and let us go home to recruit our health But thay will never let us do that I dont think I think some of you girls might a made a spree for J.A. Patterson long as some of the outhers made one
I tell you 1864 is the time for you girls to spree and fly a round thay dont get but one yeare in 4 to fly a round and you had all had better use it you know you have got a good chance. you can put grate deal of words one half sheat of paper and one can be more bolder you know ice cream Gentlemen I heard Eliza A. McNeill got marrid to a Mr Rilly and I tell you cousin S.J. I dont care if she is marrid but I dont wount all the girls to get marid cousin SJ I wount you to pick me a wife out of the croud and tell me her name I think some of you will swim over some of those nights you must ask me to the wedding did you ever heare eney thing of N.D.
 
Capt. Blue told me to ask cousin D.T. what is the date of his discharg he forgot tell me in your address to me the date of his discharge write soon and fail not I Remaine cousin
