Miss S J McDonald My Dear friend I find my self consuming the presant moments in droping you a few lines to let you no that I am well at this time and I hope if these few lines will reach you hand they will find you and all the family well I have no news of any importance to communicate to you at presant I got to the company last thursday I found them at peters burg Va the health of our company is tolerable good at this time they was eight came in since I came H M McDonald and Archd Johson an R Goins John Monroe got there to day I think we will be apt to stay here this winter we have very fine weather for the last day or two it was verry cold when we first got to Peters burg it was a snowing / they was two men kild in the twenty fourth Regt of NCT one was shot an they was a [?] cut on the other an kild him dead I want you to rite to me an tell me all the news an fun they was four of our company run a way since I left them Neill McInnis an John an big Daniel Jackson Wm Jackson I expect they will shoot some of them be fore they will stop it they was eight or ten run a way since I they came to this place they was four went from one company last night we have fine times a lying a bout the camp a doing nothing I want you to rite to me an send them song ballots that you had that night that I was up at your place I for got the names of them but send them all to me and I can sing them for a while. / M P N Blue is with the company a gain but he is not verry well yet we have 50 men reported for duty at this time more than we ever had since we left Raleigh N.C the Doctor told me that I ought to a staid at home some longer and it seems liked it has been six months since I left old moor county but I hope it wont be long before we will get to go and stay for a while John A Patterson is has been sick for the last day or two but he is a little better to day I am a feard that we will all have the small pox they has been two cases of them in our Regiment alredy I want you to rite me a long letter an tell me all the news an fun since I left old moor county / I must come to a close for it is a geting late Direct to Peters burg Va in care of Capt E McN Blue Co C 35 Reg NCT
