This will inform you that your kind and ever welcom favor came to hand in due time and was gladly recd It is a great pleasure indeed to a soldier to hear from his friend It is we may say all the pleasure he has My health is good at preasnt all your friends in the Co are well I have no ness of interest to write now We have been working for the last week putting up houses to stay in They are small and not the best looking in the country but they are all very comfortable we feel almost at home here now sitting by warm fires the fare is very [torn] compared with the hardships / we had to endure in Va we do not have such marching to do here and we have shelters to stay under and have more privileges here we are permited to go and hear the word of god preached an inestimable blessing of which we ware deprived all the time we stayed in Va I am verry sorry to think that any of our Co would ever do as sorry as the McInnis has I hope they may meet there just deserts I was very glad to get that song though we have not learned the tune perfect yet I hope the yankes will not bother us any more but quit this and all go home the Rev George A Russel is here he came here last friday he held meeting every night since he has / been here he is a going to preach to day I wish he would stay a month with us but he said he had to go back to morrow I recon he think that we are a bad set of boys a tine of prayer they was some of the Regiment a playing at
 
I have just got back from preaching I wish you had a been hear to a heard him preach he preached a powerful sermon he is to preach at the forty ninth Regiment this evening I want to go to here him as he said it may be the last time that we will ever here him but I am a fraid that it is a going to rain til he cant preach it is a raining now it made me / think of old union to se Russel and all Capt blacks Company was here Achd McLean got back the other day he has been absent ever since the Richmond fight he got back the ninth of Feb if he had a stayed two days longer they would a got him but he was two smart for them Russel said he saw big Daniel Jackson last Saturday week he said he told him he was a coming back but I dont think he will come soon or he would a come be fore the tenth of febuary I must think of closeing this badily written an uninteresting letter rite soon very soon from your true friend
