Miss Sarah J McDonald Dear Miss It is with pleasure I seat my self this morning to inform you that I am well at this time and hoping these few lines may reach and find you and all the family engoying the same blessing of health there is no nus of importance to write the health of the company is tolerable good at this time there is nothing to talk about here but the war there was an election yesterday for oficers for the war the same ones was reelected in our company there is some talk of the yankes coming up here but I do not no whether it is so or not every thing about here looks like war the people about here have to get a pass to go to mill there is a considerable stir in the camp there is to be a colonel elected to day Sanda has resined there is some of the oficers in the thirty fifth that has fel out with him very much there has ben sevrel of the oficers put in ranks in the regiment I heard yesterday that Brother Hugh was shot and kild at new bern there is no dout of it and cousin W B Monroe dide in the hospittle there he lived awhile I do not no how long it is hard to think that those whom we love have to suffer and die and their people can not go to sea them it is a hart braking thing to think of there is no telling what they suffer or want but if they wer prepard to die they / now at rest the capt got a letter from the doctor that is tending to you Brother yesterday he is at Tarboro he said he was geting a long very well and the boy henry that was in our company was waiting on him there is no dout of the fact D M Curie sais he will get the letter from the capt and send it to you that is all that would interest you the good will of all christian people are neded here and do not forget us in your prayers for there is great nead of them here there is the most distance in the world now and wen I left the camp it was like they have got wild It is time for me to quit scribling for you will tire of trying to read it I want you to write to me as soon as you can and tell all the nuse when I will write agane I will gave you all the nuse there is some talk here about now that I can scearcely write but you must for give me for this time no more at present only I remain your most afectionat friend till death gave my best respects to all enquiring friends and receave a portion for you self
