Miss Sarah J McDonald Dear Miss It was with the greatest pleasure that I apeal to your very welcom letter which of may the 7 which came to hand in du time I was happy to hear that you wer all well this leaves me in tolerable good health the health of the company is tolerable good at this time there is some sick in the company but there is always some that is not well any how there is 8 or 9 in the hospitle the health of our company is the best of any in the regt. there is some of the company in the Regt that has 30 or 40 sick we have a new set of oficers the Doctor we have now is a prety sharp old fellow there is some of the Boys scerd to go to him to be excused we are a new set of men now we have new clothes and new guns there is a considerable come out in the thirty Fifth we are as well armed as any in the service there is no nuse to write to you that would interest you we can hear any thing at tall here It would be useles for me to try to tell you any thing at tall about what is goin on here for I do not no when I here the truth for we can hear one thing in the morning and before twelve it wil be contradicted there was some stir here the other night It was said the yankes wer coming up here there was some sceard we did not no what was the matter till the next day we all got amenition the colonel told us to take thirty five rounds a peace there is some talk of ther being a fiting in verginia but I do not no the perticlars but I am in hopes when we will hear that the yankes will be sattisfied that they cant whip the Sothern men
there is nothing more that I think would interest you I can not think of any thing I just got a letter from Cousin Hugh B Monroe he said he was well and the rest of the company wer well he said that Brother William was fatning every day I was glad to hear that all of the neighbor boys wer well It was some time senc I heard from them they say that they heard we wer gon to verginia the Curie Boys are well at this time they have the hooping cough we all have the cough and I think it is the hooping cough there is none of the boys that can talk about going home only Martin Currie he sais he is goin home the 16 of July I should like to go home very well but there is no chanc to get off I want you to write to me as son as you can so I must close I remain your afectionate friend Malcom Ray
