Dear Cousin,
Again I am seated to write you a few lines, to inquire your state of health & to let you know of mine.
I am getting along finely now & think I will soon be able for duty / again of some kind.
I had a letter from home yesterday stating that you wer some better & that you rode out every day, that is better than I expected. I didnot know that you was able to sit up. I am very glad to hear such encouraging news & I earnestly hope that you may soon recover entirely.
I have been trying my best to get a furlough to come home & see you, but I might just as well try to put down this rebellion alone, for it is an utter impossibillity.
I am enjoying myself ver well at present. I go into the country once in a while & get all the peaches I want to eat, but I guess we / will be deprived of all such privilages before long, for they intend to brake up the Hospitals of this place by the 1st of next month. our Regt is stationed at Winchester Tenn to guard that point.
I also had a letter from Wm yesterday. he is in Arkansas. they expect an attack soon, by Price, Marmaduke & Kirby Smith, as their forces are concentrated there (near Helena Ark.)
Well Cousin,
I Have nothing new to write I am anxious to know how you are & if you are not able to write, get some one else to write for you. tell your mother & the boys to write to me also. / hopeing & trusting that we may soon meet again,
I remain your Cincere Cousin & friend,
R. H. Tucker
Love to all,
trust in God,
for he is able to save,
& he can do all things.
