Saturday morning
My Dear Mother:
Again I write to you to keep you informed of my condition you cannot help but be anxious. I have been very sick and am still. But feel a great deal better this morning & think that I am now on the safe side. I don't want you to trouble and worry, but put your trust in Him who is both willing and able to help. I thought it best to tell you that I was very sick it seems to me that I always had rather know the truth than to be left in the dark.
Our Regt left here Wednesday for Decatur Ala. I am left in the care of the Hospital of the 50th Ills. Regt. Have good care & an excellent Surgeon.
I hope you are well and in hopefull spirits. remember me in your supplications. if we should never meet below you will find me on the right Hand of Him that died for us, not for any good that I have done, but all through the grace of our Lord. It is not as pleasant to write by proxy but it is better than silence.
Good morning Mother much
Love from Your Affectionate
Son
