Friend T.C.
Having more to write [faded] I will [faded] a few moments [faded] you a few [faded] it is a long [faded] I have [faded] you and [faded] I want you to write as soon as you can conveniently sending me a history of the proceedings around the village of R.B. & also what your opinion is regarding the coming campain for the / Presidency dont you think Uncle Abe will be reelected & dont you think he is the man that ought to claim the chair for the next four years.
All is quiet along the lines this morning there was some cannonading on the left early this morning but it has ceased & all is again quiet.

What do you think of the campain in the valley dont you think old Sherridan is doing the thing right up. thats what we want that is worth more / votes to Uncle Abe than wood can gain for McClellan. thats what we call properly speaking putting down the Rebellion & before a great while friend T.C. you will hear good news from the Army at front before Petersburg.

The weather is delightful & the roads good as a general thing. My health could not be better than at the present time. we are laying off nothing to do & plenty to eat, that is healthy isn't it I hope this may find / you all in good health & good spirits. Just keep up good courage Genl Grant is with us yet & never give up to think that the matter of subdueing the South is an impossibility, for it will be done. Write soon, give my kind regards to P.J. & all friends who may enquire

Yours Truly
