Head Qrs 1st Div 9th A.C.
Office of Asst Comsy Musters.
July 9th 1865
Friend Peck
Yours of the 8th inst is before me. I have not seen any Order Special with regard to our Muster Out only general rumor.
I do wish it would come along I am getting tired living on suspense. I will be careful about your "Bounty Biz."
If any order comes at all I think it will muster out the whole of the Div. for why keep a part as the entire Corps is by the muster out book up to a very small remnant of its former glory.
If the Order comes to your Office, ship me one, for my own personal benefit Just to gaze on and as "Canterbury" notoriety has it, cast a winder on it. (I.E.) Bradys Gallery in Burlesque.
Peck you and I will likely bring up / the rear, as most likely we shall be nailed to our desks until the column passes, or rather the curtain drops on the 9th C
And can we not so arrange it that we go home together. I never want to go with a motley crew of half savages, for such our glorious 1st Div has become.
You can get an order for transportation at your Head Qrs. I will make application and send direct through and if it needs any hurrying why you can stick the quill in and drive it along.
There is a good chance for Citz. clerkships in the Depts in Wash if we would avail our selves of them when the muster out order comes send her along post haste.
Peck if you want a decent looking discharge (for they are darned poor writers in the Regt) I will fill one out when the Rolls come to the Office so that you will get it when you go home. try and come over if you can. I should like very much to have you before leaving Wash if only
