Henry V. Hoagland to Marietta Randolph, undated
Marietta. I recd the few lines you sent in Johns letter and propose to write a few lines in answer to it and send it the same way I was glad to hear from you but if I could hear a little oftener it would please me better if you will corespond with me I asure you your letters will be read with interest and answered promptly. I wrote you a letter some time ago and whatched the mail evry day for an answer for a long time but it never come and I thought perhaps you did not wish to keep up a correspondence and I would not write again but since you wrote those few lines and sent me a sheet of paper and stamp I thought perhaps you did not recieve my letter and I would write again. the small pox is not in our regt but it is in the brigade I hope it will be stopped before it spreads very far. Give my respects to your Parents, your friend
