Camp Harison Oct 24th 1861
                                                                                                           
Fanny we arrived her about 2 OC yesterday ther is about four Thousand men her and still comeing we lost part of our provisions got nothing to eat from the time we arrived til about 12 OC to day I tell you ther was some hungry Boys her the face of the earth for about a quarter of a mile is coverd with men & tents. we ar on a high dry hill water scarce we have to get water from wells but three or four of them the men has say they ar not fed well Bacon once a weak Bef the balance of the time they let us have bacon this morning so I dont believe but what we will get plenty to eat the trane we came on from Savannah was behind time and wold not wate for all of our bagage to be taken of but caried them on to the next station among other things all the Capt bedding so we will get them to morow the Capt is gon to Savannah to get some articles that we knead. we havent ben mustard in service yet will be to morrow we have 59 men some 6 of us will come home soon for recruits / if you hear of eny men that wishes to join us tell them to be ready to come with wo ever comes. I under stand ther ar chills & fever & measles in camp no one sick much that I have hearn of I am as well pleased as I expected to be the Boys ar in good spirits. tell Henry that I shal expect him to attend to things beter than if I was at home. if you cant get along with the negros send for Mr Butts or Alphus I wish them well havent drilled since we have bin her. the Companies ar now drilling they have to drill through the wods they ar clearing one hundred acors for a drill ground One Company is made to work a day so I expect our time will come soon I shall close for to day
 
            Oct 25 it is now raining the Boys ar ditching round ther tents we have drawn nothing to cook with yet Some of the Boys have to bake ther bread in the ashes some Companies have no tents I must close as our tent is fool of Boys Direct your leters to Lieut J R Binion Care of Capt Corley Apling Cty Scriven PO
