Dear parents I received your letter and was glad to here that you were well. I am well as ever now I onely weigh 150 a small little youth ant I I think I would to go with fathers horse. he says he will his harness. I think he must have a prety large one.
 
I am glad you did not send that box for I am goin to my reg. when the next boat goes. I have stayed here long enough. I get lonesome staying here. there are 10 or 12 here out of my company. the Co. is at bermuder Hundred doing provost duty. /
 
When I go to the reg I will try to stop at city point and see unkle phineas I suppose John Sheffield has gone up the spout. You wanted to now the officers of my reg Col rand lieut Col Washburn Maj cabott We have not got any capt he was transferd in to co. D. the lieut has gone home his time was out the second lieut is promoted 1 lieut I have been down to mill creak to day I found a little bean down there I will send it home. did you get that letter that I put that photograph and ring and that peace of a rebel cav jacket in. I did not get them two letters frank wrote. I wrote him one just after that one / to you and I wrote one to george bachelor the next day after I wrote to you. I supose the sleighing is about spoilt now did any of the boys go a fishing this winter. I should like to be there and go once or twice you need not write to me any more because I dont now when I shall go away I dont now whether I shall get payed here or not I signed the pay roll three weeks ago I think I shall get payed here. I have been musterd here for 4 months pay
 
I do not think of any thing els to write now so good by.
