Sunday March 3th 1881
To My Dear little Neace in the fare west I will try & write you a few lines to day to let you know that I am well & hope this will reach & find you the same. I received a letter the other day from Ang was very glad to here from you all. I received your letter Ida that you wrote me when I was in Vt with that peace in I ment to have sent it back to you when I wrote the last time but I forgot it but I will try & send it / to you in this letter that is if I can find it is in my trunk some whare. tell Ang I will send that letter to her some time but I cant now for I have got to look over all of them letters & you know know tha is a lot of them. tell Ang that who ever put a peace in the paper that tha was 187 days of sleighing in worcester must have been a D— fool for if that had been tha would have to begun last September. You know when I came here from Kans tha had had abot 2 weeks of sleighing but tha wasent any then Amos folks & I went down to Nancis Nancas Crismas day & we went in a wagon / I left he for Vt the 3th of Jan & then the was abot half & half wheels & sleigh & I came back here from Vt & began driving the team that I now drive the 14th of feb & I have used a wagon all of the time Amos Baxter runse a meat cart ever day he ses that he hasent run his sleigh over 50 dayes in all this winter & in Vt tha had more than tha did here abot 2 feet of snow but not as long run of sleighing as tha do some times it all went of that is in the con any whare ner the Lake if / it began to thaugh thare the night of the 9th of feb Feb the 10th of feb I went to Burlington & it rained all day & the next day & the 12th of Feb I rod up to essex Junction with Horace Isham in a wagon & that was the end of sleighing but I dont think tha ever had so cold a winter in Vt as tha had this winter I have seen colder days but it ceep stedy cold ever day but abot the same abot 10 degrees belo zero or 12 & one day up to 14 down to 14 that was colds it was excep one day that was the 2nd day of Feb the murcur was 21 degrees belo / zero at Mothers & at Geo Isham & at Burlington for I went out to Burlington that day & I no that was the cold day we had at St Jonsbury it was & whiteriver Junction and other places it was any whare from 30 to 40 belo. I went down to Hinesburg tell Ang our folks thare are all well Aunt Altha is as smart as a girl of 18 she was 81 yeres old the 16th of March only one day older than Ang. Mother is smart I would like to have her out in Kans to run Jackrabbits I know she would be better than a dog / She beets the D— I never saw her eacul to run she is just as quick as a cat. I went down & saw Geo & Hattie last Saturday night staid all night & back Sunday had a nice time Geo has got a road job I tell you it is not such a job as he had befor when he was in the shop tha are well & seam glad to get back to Mass once more. I wish I could come in & see you to night but I guess I wont but prehaps I will in corse of a yere if you stay there & [?] well & I get a good crop of wheat / Ang you sed that my wheat on the Knight place looks well how is that on Jims place & how is my sod wheat I am sorry that Jim sold out I think I would bought him out if I had been quick enough but still if I dont get a crop of wheat this yere I have got all the land I want but if I do Ida I would like more & if I do I will try & come out & see you next winter I can Ida almost see you out there now goin to school & braceing up agance the wind. well I will look over my trunk & see if I can find that / peace if I can I will send it if not it is lost I think it will take you abot a week to read this letter but if you should ever live to read it Ida I want you to write me a good long letter & tell me all about ever thing so now I must close good by love to all & all write soon
