My Dear Grandaughter Ida,

I thought I would write you a answer to your kind letter you sent me. How do you do on this pleasant eve. I hope you are well and enjoying your self. We are all well as usual and Grandpa and I spent the day at home and we two were here alone all the rest went away. Henry went up to Unkle Reubens he said they were all well up there Mr Parkers folks went down to Whitinsville

Well Ida how I do wish I could see you and say to you I wish a merry Chrismas and a Happy new Year and I hope you will live to see many and have them all happy ones. I suppose Henry has written all the news in his letter to your Father I must tell you about my presents I had a new red and white table cloth 3 white rushes Granpa had cloth for a pair of shirts and some tobacco and Henry had a China drinking cup and saucer so you see we were remembered by friends
you asked me where the Brighty Family are they are in the village on High street you must write to Eliza and she will answer it they come to see us quite often and I like to have them come /

I suppose you have got all settled in your new home are you going to school this winter you must write me all about it in your next letter George & Hattie come up here yesterday they were well. I dont think of much more to write as it is getting late We all send love to you all keep a good share for yourself and I will wish you a good night from your Affectionate and loving Grand Mother.
