Edward Everett to David Wills, 29 December 1863
Boston 29 Decr 1863

My dear Sir,
I have your favor of the 25th, which reached me this morning. Your letter of the 22d was also duly received.

There will be no difficulty in having a few copies of the address &c struck off on paper of a size to match with Mr Tyson's views of the battles, & if you will let me know the dimensions, I will give the requisite order:—
David Wells Esqr

The Photograph of the Governor, in order to make a good appearance in the book, should also be upon paper of the same size. The easiest way to procur them would probably be, to request the governor to cause them to be forwarded to me on thin paper (not in the usual style on cards) in order to their being pasted on paper of the proper size.

It has occurred to me that / it would not be in good taste to have the pamphlet don up in mourning. The occasion was rather commemorative, historical, & patriotic than strictly funereal. The discourse of Judge Story, at the consecration of the Mount Auburn Cemetery, was not done up in black covers, nor is it, I think, usual to place in mourning any thing but discourses delivered at the funeral of individuals, not always then.

With great regard, sincerely
Yours,
Edward Everett. /

P.S.—I have this day forwarded by Adams Express an engraving, which I beg Mr Wills would be kind enough to accept.

I would observe, should you have occasion to send me a telegraphic message, it need not be prepaid. Both Adams' express & the American Telegraph Co. are good enough to convey my messages & packages gratuitously though, by mistake, a charge is sometimes made, which I hope will not be done, on this occasion.
