Ulysses S. Grant to David Wills, 14 May 1867
Head-Quarters Armies of the United States,
May 14th 1867.
Dear Sir:
Your letter of the 13th inviting me to visit Gettysburg some time in June to meet the "Board of Commissioners" is received. It has been my desire to visit the "Battlefield of Gettysburg" ever since the close of the rebellion; but it has so happened that when others were going who I wanted to accompany other engagements prevented. I will be but too glad to meet the / Commissioners there any time after the 16th of June.
Yours Truly
U. S. Grant
To
David Wills,
