Monday morning 4 o'clock
Dear Brother
I have been to Annapolis with the expectation of finding Collins alive—but alas what was my disapointment to find he was dead & buried.
he died last monday one week ago to day. I never had sutch a fealing come over me before, when I enquired at the ward whare to find him, pore fellow & brother his sufferings was to menney to live longer then he did /
I had his remaines taken up & packed could not have him embarmed it had been to long since his death. we shant be able to have it seen, it will come through this week by Express. when it gets to Saco I will telagraph to you & you may do as you like about comming down to the funerell I should like to have you come.
P.S. I want to get to Saco to day to do a little business or I would stop over one train with you / if you do not come down I will write more of the particulars of pore Collins his death &c.
I have not been to bead but once since I left home.
