William H. Williams to Godfrey Weitzel, 14 May 1865
Stuart Hospital Richmond Va
May 14th 1865

General.
I very respectfully solicit your acceptance of the enclosed "Acrostic" for Mrs General Weitzel.

I expect to be mustered out in a day or two having just recovered from a very severe illness, and as soon as I can procure the necessary materiel I will endeavour to produce an "Acrostic" on your name, alluding to your entry into Richmond, as a small tribute of respect and slight acknowledgement of my gratitude for the leniency you displayed toward me when I "put an enemy in my mouth to steal away my brains".

I have the honor to be, General,
                        Your most obedient humble servant
                                    William Henry Williams
