Stuart Mansion Hospital
Baltimore Md.
Sunday, Oct 25th/62.
I have just read your kind letter of the 20th and 21st of this month and was very glad to hear from you once more and that you were all well. I got one from home (that is, South Creek) yesterday that was wrote two days after yours was. Wallace was not drafted, he started for Sinema[?] the day before the draft came off /
Wm Harkness, Samuel Thompson, Abe Duning, Ike fuller, David King, and some five or six others. well, I guess that will do.
What will Smiths wife do now, it is most to bad to take a man with a family when there are so many young men that can go without leaving a family. Well, now about myself, a little. I am as happy as a clam in high water, nothing to do, but eat and sit around the ward and read the papers. I get a paper about every day. / James Nabal is now a Corporal. I recd a letter from Capt Hills last night and my descriptive list, so I think that I shall get my pay the first of next month. then I shall have to buy some new clothes, for my descriptive list says that I am first Lieutenant. I am very glad you sent me Miss Marshalls address, as you take such an interest in her. I will write her a letter soon I sent out yesterday and got one dollars / worth of stamps now I am going to writing again. I have not wrote much lately. I shall have to close I send my best respects to all. please write soon. direct as before.
this from your brother
