            Dear Sister
                        I will drop you a few lines to let you kno that I have got back home safe found the folks all well I got back the 20th last friday in the afternoon. Dave started a little while before I got home, for Washington to se wil he sent for one of us to come down he was shot through the left shoulder on the sixth of May he thinks its not very bad. / he can walk round, but not lay down. he thinks he will be home in a few days. I shal write to you as soon as I hear from dave. John fletcher is shot through the left arm no bones broken I guess. there is nothing of any account that I can think of so I will close hoping to hear from you soon

only 1 man killed in will com 150 killed & wounded in the regt.
 
Willsons wife & baby, his wife's sister & polly bordwells little girl is dead the baby is buried today the rest died shortly after I left
