William Wilson to James Wilson and Philena B. Wilson, 19 July 1863
Bowers Hill Virginnia
July 19th 1863
Dear Parents
I received your letter dated the 13th last night with the sad news of Byron death
I did not think their Regiment could have been there. But when I read your letter it changed my mind
it is hard enough to be a Soldier with out fighting But sutch is the fate of war
I thought the other day that things looked brighter but it dont look so now. if we only had to fight the rebs it would annother thing but for us to hear how they are acting in our own / state it discourages us down here
I think Byrons boddy will be found by some one and if it is they will post up a board so that you can find it. there is a head board put up to every one that they know
this is about all I can think at present
I am well and all the rest of the Boys
Good By Will
