Dear Parents
                                    I just received your letter dated the 23d and was glad to hear from you
 
                                    I am well at present and about all the rest of the Boys. I am all a lone to night there is not mutch news to write at present
 
                                    We have good news from Grant. the papers state that he captured 60 pieces of Artilery and 7,000 prisoners from old Bragg. I hope Grant will drive him in to Charlestown 
 
We have got a better house this winter than we had last there is only two of us in the tent now Ben has gone up to head quarters to stay he is in the telegraph office
 
                                    we have got a new tent and the Captain gave me an old tent and a floor to our tent as we have got a good bed we have got four wollen blankets a rubber and our over coats so you se we can sleep warm.
 
                                    Besides these we have got a new stove it cost 6 dollars. what do you think of a house 7 foot square with a bed in it for two to sleep in a stove and a table besides the box you sent me for a seat /
 
you wanted to know if I had been troubled with the disentary Some but not as bad as some others. I dont see as the cold weather makes mutch difference. there is a good manny sick yet.
 
                                    I have wrote about all that I can think of and I guess more than you can read
