Dear Parents
                                    I have just received your letter dated Dec 27th and am glad to hear that you are all well
 
                                    I am nearly well I do not cough but a little now to what I did a few days ago, and I dont have but a little pain in my side I dont know when I shal go to the Company I shal go when the Surgeon thinks that I am able to
 
                                    there is no news to write at present there is not mutch stir on the Island now / Johney is about the same I guess he will get along after a while
 
                                    You never wrote anny thing about Aunt Janette or what kind of a visit you had there. you never let me know whether you got that money of Rush or not
 
                                    You wanted to know if Ben got anny more pay where he is. he done
 
                                    it has been quite cold and rainy for ten days past but it is over and looks so that I think it will be pleasant weather again for a spell.
 
                                    we expect Cort White on the next boat that will be in a few days. 
 
I have wrote about all that I can think of at present so I will have to bid you Good By for this time
