Dear Parents
I received your letter night before last but have not had time to answer it till now I am well at present and all the rest of the Boys. we received our pay last week. I sent 25 dollars in money and a check of 30 dollars. I sent it by express. I would have wrote a letter to have let you known that I was going to send it but we could not send anny letters from here /

I will tell how it comes that I send more than 4 monts pay home this time. last pay day I bought a wach and paid 12 dollars of the money that I got then and then I sold it again for 15 dollars that is the reason that I send so mutch home

you have herd before this time about this time the fus here it is not a small one neither.

Halleck and Dix are here to night and we have got a good manny men here to.

Sunday night two of our reg went out / had a skirmish they took one Battery of six guns 150 prisoners we have had two men kiled since this fus commenced
what do you think about going on Picket when you can stand on your post and talk to the rebs on their post

their Pickets and ourn are with in 80 rods of one annother.

I have got a reb paper to camp that I will send home in a few days.

my box has not come yet but guess it will come when this fus is over /

I think when the rebs take this place they will know it.

the rebs said that this was the first place that they had to take artilery to drive the Pickets in

one reb that we took on our Picket line said that we kiled 32 of their men and they have kiled 4 of ourn.

that is on our Picket line the Somerton road

this is all I can think at present

I dont think you can read this for I have wrote in in a hurry
Will
