Philadelphia Sep 15th 1862
 
Dear Sister
                        I take my pen in hand to write these few lines to you hopeing to find you all in good health i am in the hospital yet and I feel very weak at present the Doctor has a bad oppinion of me i got paid since i got your letter i got four months pay and i send you five dollars in this letter i wish i could get a furlough to go and spend a week with yous but there is no use to try for one here they are sending the soldiers off from here before they are near well there is a great excitement in the city nearly every man has turned out to be a Soldier /
i have not much more to say at present
 
John will surly make money now if he brings his wife out with him to peddle he ought to sell her after his load if he would get a reasonable price for her
