Dear Sister
I received your letter of the 14th and i am very sorry to hear of the sudden death of John Morrison
I did not expect to hear that news when the boys told me there was a letter for me I also received a letter from James McKenna today which Mary requested him to write to me and he told me to direct my letter in Care of T. J. Dennis 195 Fulton street N. Y. over /
I wrote a letter to John the time i wrote the last to you and i got no answer yet we are
we are getting ready to go away tonight and I just took time to write these few lines to you before i go for i might not get an opportunity when i get out there I sent my likeness to John Morrison along with the last letter i was sorry i did not see Ferdinand before i came a way for perhaps i might never see youse again we are going right strait to Richmond but i expect it will be taken before we get there the 3rd Indiana Cavelry has relieved us their is 30 of our company gone before us
they wanted me to stop where i was Orderly and i said i would go along with the companey wherever it would go
I have not much more to relate at present if continued it would be a history
