Binghamton July 29th 1864
 
Dear Friend
                        we have got back to Binghamton all safe, but very home sick, or sick of home i dont know witch to call it. Ferdinand says the first chance he gets to run from here to New York he will take it then we will moove down We will come down in the fall any how Grand Mother is not going down East she has changed her mind have you got your watch. why did not you write on that letter and let us know if any more letters come to your house from any lawyer dont send them on for i will not employe any lawyer and pay them half what we would get I walked all over the town last night and could not get a pound / of butter i went in two places to get Alonzo picture taken but he would not sit still Send me an Eagle if you please give my love to Jane Emma Eliza & the children all equiring friends & reserve a portion for yourself Write soon and let me know all the news I dont know of any thing more to write good By
