My dear wife i received your welcom leter this morning and was very glad to hear from you and to know that you were well and my litle boys to i canot hardley say the saim by my self for i have got cold and the reumetes bother me some Elro is not very well but i think we shal come out all wright i do my duty every day and do it faithful some times it comes rather hard. i had the misfortune some eight weaks ago to get hurt in my private partes so it trobles me some about marching and the docter said in the time of it that it was rather a hard [ink blot] case and i think it is. i am in hopes that this war will be setled before bad wether for if we half to do much marching that i cant stand it i am going to see if i cant get out of it some way or outher it is nothing but what i shal get over with it may troble me some. it is on the left side so it all helps afect my left side but i am harty as a pig. you wanted i should wright what i wanted you should send me to eat i want you should send me just what you air amind to it will all be good i know you may send me a litle tea [?] we do not have eny of eny cind tell bine to send me chew of tobaco you may poot in a botle of w[?]ing linerment i do not want to have you pay out / to much money to send to me yoes it for your self and boys you asked if we have fire we do we make a fire place and chimney out of turfts and mud and get along very well we have to candles a weak our living is mostley hard bred and pork and cofey we have beans once in about ten days rice once a weak and we have had ounions for afew days so we do go not go hongry but it is not like home i hardley think i should know how to eat to a table i know i should be rather gamen dont you think i should i had a leter from Mother yesterday she rote a good long leter. did the boys wrings fit them i made them with my one hands i want to have you get your money as fast as you get notified and look out for your money from the town does Martin keep strait i do not want you should promis it to them eny longer than till aperil does he pay you the wrent i am quite perticerlar about theas thing becaus i know you nead them. Elro wants to know if Mister Richerson handed you eny money to give to his granmother he sent some twenty dolars and he has never hurd from it i canot see to wright much more to knight in regard to bisness so i will have a short talk i cant say much but if i was at home i could say a grate deal whair do you get your wood did your pig do prety well the old cow gives some milk yet 
           
I should like a good dish of bred and milk Mary before i go to bed you may eat it for me i guess as it is. what do you half to pay for flour now i expect it is rather hy and i surpose everything is that you have to by i dreamed about things at home and you and the children and you can tell how much comfort i take it seames as real as life but in the morning it is all fiction but it does me some good now i will draw to a close by biding you good knight this is from your afectinate Husban
