Dear Mary i received your welcom leter this eavning and was very glad to hear from you but was very sory to know that your helth is poor for it makes me feel bad to hear that their is eny thing aling eny of my little famley my helth is rather beter than it was through the winter so that i do my duty i hav a very easey time all but marching and that comes prety hard but i feel in hopes that i shal stand it and i guess i shal but i expect we shal have a good deal of marching to do this sumer i feel in hopes that you will see me at home / September and i think you will what do you think of that i think i shal be thair i think this cursed thing will be closed up before that time things air looking a litle beter just now and i think it is about time but thair has got to be some hard fighting yet and many lives lost I got those postage stamps you say you have got the picture of the litle one that has past away to the Lord of rest whair troble and hardships cannot enter thair and that our time may be in the future so caried on that when we pas from time to eternity that we may have a seat at the throne of grace i would / the picture much and yours and the boys if you can aford it you said you talked of seling the cow i want you should do just as you think best about it a cow is a good deal of help to a famley but you must do that which is for your one benafit for i can not be thair to help you i wish i could i did talk some of coming home on a furlow but we have gon so far away that it costs to much and i cant aford it it would about sixty dolars and that does not gro on every bush that would by you considerable bread &c and i look a good deal at them / things and then your litle home for my self i should not mind the cost Elro is well and smart i do not think of much more to wright this time you must wright often for it takes som time for them to get through wright often give my love to all and remember your self Ciss the boys for me and tell them that farther ses that they must be good boys so good by
