Mildaile Miss July the 26 1863
Good morning Mary as we have returned to our old camping ground again i thought i would try and wright a few lines my helth is a litle quite good with the exception of beaing wearn out by hard marching we have had a very hard time for the last three weaks the hardes the we have ever had our men air all wourn out and it is a wounder to me that we aint wors of than we be for we have had to march 20 miles aday untill the men could not stand it eny longer but i feel in hopes that we shal a litle wrest know. we have got to stay hear to or three day until the transports com in and then i hope we shal go back to kentuckey but i do not know as we shal som think we shal go to alabama but i hope not for i am as fair south as i want to go it is to hot / for me down hear whair we air thair is some talk about ouis going back near Washington but i do not take much stake in it my self i wish it might be so i think Mary this war is about plaid out the white siterzons hear have to live on our armey rations furnished by the govenant and it makes them grone but i think it is as good for them as it is for me
