John Dillingham to Henry W. Washburn, 16 December 1862
US Ship "Morning Light"
off Sabine Pass Dec. 16th/62

Sir—
You will please get underweigh & take a look along the coast to the eastward. I send Mr Plummer, who will be able to point out many places convenient for a forage &c. Should a person by the name of [cut out] show himself in a position to communicate, try & do so with him & do not go so far east but that you can get back to this anchorage before night & in any case return at once if you see the mail steamer. I would not recommend you to land to day as there will hardly be time.

very respectfully Your Obt Svt
Acting Master D Dillingham
Comdg US Ship "Mg. Light"

To Acting Master
H. W. Washburn
in Command of US Schr "R Seaman"
