Sir:
Your communication of the 12th inst. is received. Inferring therefrom that you are a returned prisoner, and that your account has not been taken up by any paymaster since your release, I have to request that you state to this office the date of your exchange, and certify upon honor whether you have received anything on account of pay since your release, or during your imprisonment, which has not been charged to your account, and if so, from what source. You will also transmit certified copies of any orders you may have received which in any way affect your rate of pay, and signify to what station you wish your account transferred. If your name has already been taken up for pay, please signify the date and station.
