Dear Father
I seat my self to drop you a few lines to let you know that I am well at present and hope this may find you and all the rest well I have no news to write to you at present we received payt of our wages to day up to the 31st of august I received $31.00 and think it best to send a part home to you to keep for me until I return if I be so lucky as to be spared or to use it for your if you used it I would send more but I think it best to keep some on hand in case I may need it for it takes a goodeal to do one here I send it to the care of Mr Daniel McKinnon William and John McKinnon send some home and I thought best to send it all to gether
Mr Louis Lawhon is here and he will leave in the morning and will carry our money and letters to carthage I would send it in a letter to you but Mr Lawhon will not take any money sealed up in letters the amount that I send you is $20.00 Dollars as it is late I must close write to me soon and let me know whether you get the $20.00 that I send you Yours truely Noah Deaton
