Well Sarah I have not much news to write at present. we have moved and from our winter quarters and are in camp now 5 miles below Newbern between the raill road and the Nuse River ½ mile from Ft Thompson there is a breast work from the rail road to the river about 1 mile long. I have seen some of Capt Kelly's Co since we came here day before yesterday I saw your brother and you cousin Daniel Currie and Martin Currie and Arnitt and they all looked better I ever saw them look I saw McBlue on yesterday he is well and hearty. we were orderd here last Sunday with the expectation of meeting the enemy here but we have not seen any thing of them yet and we are very much unsettled we don't know whether we will stay here or not / some think we will stay here and some think we will be sent to weldon or Roanoke Island but I hope and expect that we will go back to our winter quarters in a short time our boys are all fat as pigs I have gained 15 lbs since I came in to camp. I recd the pair of gloves you sent to me with my thanks to to you for them you said you would send me your likeness if there was any artist about there to draw it I would like to see it very much but I have your likeness in my memory so that I can carry it with me where ever I go as I have nothing of intrest to write I will come to a close please excuse my badly writen letter I will try to do better next time please write soon and give all the news.
