Dear Father
I am happy to inform you that I received your letter of the 26 Dec It gave me much pleasure to hear from home it being the first letter that I have recd since I was captured I am still in good health W. C. Moore & B. B. Moore, Levi Britt, Levi Wright, Daniel Martin are all in moderate health Allen Martin is very low with chronic Diarhea Wm McKinnon & Isaac Freeman has been sent out to the hospital I have not heard from them since
 
I see no prospects of getting away from this place soon as I hear nothing of an exchange but I am happy to tell you that I am not as low down in spirit as some I pass off the time at work on rings I make from three to five a day and have more work than I can do I can get as much Federal currency as I need. no moore
