Noah Deaton to William Deaton, 30 January 1865
Jan 30th 1865
Dear Father I take great pleasure in writing a word in answer to your kind favor of Dec. 4th 1864. My anxiety was much relieved to hear once more that you were well at home I still enjoy very good health This winter up to the present has been much colder than last winter but I stand it much better I have good warm clothing and plenty to eat. I work one half the day and go to school the other part. I study Grammer and Arithmetic I am very near master of common Arithmetic
W. C. Moore, L. Britt, D. Martin and all the rest of the boys from your acquaintance is well. Fields was sent to Elmira and I know nothing of him Madison Deaton has taken the Oath and is gone from here We are limited in writing therefore I must stop hoping this will reach you soon
send my Love and regards to you and all
