Tarborough Edgecomb Co. NC
Apr 21st 1862
Mr N. R. McDonald
Mr. D. L. Mc donald is now in the Hospital in this place & wishes me to say to you that he is wounded in the left leg, the calf of the leg being taken out by the explosion of a bomb shell at the battle at Newbern. He is now safe from the Yankees & in the hands of friends & I know he is well attended for my wife has taken him charge & does every thing to render him comfortable. He is doing well & hopes soon to be well.
Respectfully Yours
H. B. Bryan for
D. L. Mc donald
