Cousin Sallie
I am again among my native hill of cabbin creek I found all our folks well little Emma had come home her Brother came with her he is here yet the neighbors are all in good health I recd a letter from Brother Neill the last mail he was at Charleston yet we heard Brother John was gone there we have not heard from Brother Malcom in some time we have stiring times up here the the robbers are doing a great eal of mischief in this section they robed Cousin Malcom Leach and Cousin Mary Owen her [?] and is gone to the army oh how / I wish they would consider their ways and learn to do better they have not been to see us yet
We had a very pleasant trip comeing home we left Cousin Neill Curries monday evening in company with Lt Gilchrist who I found to be very plesant company but his furlough only reach to carthage there we left him then we came to Neill Caldwells and staid there that night next day we arived safe home Well I can say those days I spent with my relations was a mong the happyest days of my life I will write you a long letter when I colect my thoughts write soon give my love to cousin Eliza & Grand Ma will all the rest of my relations tell me how our Dave is and dont forget little Alex I must quit or I will be too late for the mail
