Dear Cousin
It has been some time since I received your letter and thought as I had such a good opportunity of sending to the office that I would drop you a line or two, although I have nothing special to say. Father and Sister got home safe Saturday evening from your house. We were glad to hear that Cousin Daniel was so much better I am in hopes he will soon be able to come to see us. Sister said that Eliza Kate looked very badly we would like so much to hear from her. We hav'nt heard from the boys in better than a week. we feel very anxious about them. the last we heard from them, Kin had gone out scouting with several others. One of the "Partizan Rangers" was to see us last Friday he left the boys two weeks ago. Mother is gone to see one of the Company this evening he expects to go back soon we want to send some things to bud Neill and Kin by him. Father and Sister went to Capt Booths funeral last Sunday evening there were about two thousand people there. / Father said he never saw such a crowd at a funeral before they buried him with military honors. The two Companys from the "Arsenal" marched after the corpse to the grave bud John is a member of one of them their uniform is red blowse trimed with blue and black pantaloons dont you think they will make a great show. We are expecting bud John home Saturday night. Cousin Marion Makepeace has a fine daughter it is about a week old She has been very sick but is better now. Sister received a letter from Cousin Kenneth McDonald this week. he is very well but there is a great many of his company sick he seems to be very tired of the war and I dont know who would'nt be. Father and the boys are very busy getting fodder it ripend all in one week nearly We have been digging sweet potatoes some time they are very nice Sarah Jane I wish you were down here to help me make hats. Sister Florah and myself are busy making wiregrass hats. it is right tedious work.
Since I have commenced writing Sister received a letter from bud Neill, he has been sick but was well when he wrote he said that all the Rockfish boys had gone out scouting this week except himself and Cousin Archibald We feel very uneasy when we hear they are out scouting for you know this scouting buisness is a dangerous thing I must close for the want of paper. Cousin Mag [?] sends her love to you. Write soon and give me all the news. Please to remember me to all my relations Excuse all mistakes. All join me in love to you all. Good bye Dear Cousin from Yours as ever Cattie McDonald
