Dear cousin
I expect you think that I have entirely forgotten you but I can assure you it is not the case. I would have written before now but Ma kept talking about writing to you and I was waiting to see if she would write but she has not written it she would have written about 2 weeks ago but she got sick and could not write but she has gotten almost well again We are all tolerably well. The neighborhood are all well. There was none of our neighbor boys conscripted this time Cousin John D McIver has [paper holes] in Capt McKellars Co and went off with Uncle Kenneth McIver week before last Uncle Martin Leach has promised to come down to see us since a / long time but has not come yet We are looking for them this evening but I do not expect they will come I have no news of any importance I have no fun atall at home but I have rite smart at school I am studying third part [faded] Cornells 2nd Geography English Grammar I am most through grammar it my lesson is on the 182d page. Why dont some of you come down to see us some time I would like to see you the best in the world but I dont suppose I will get to go up to see you in a good while give my love to Uncle N R and Aunt M A & all the family I must come to a close
