Dear Schoolmate,
I find myself consuming the precious moments in writing you a letter for the first time, to let you know that I am well and great pleasure hoping that this letter may find you in the same enjoyment. We have but a few scholars at this time. It is the smalest school that we ever had I think. Mrs Shepard is going up that way next Saturday so Flora told me to day and me and Sue and Flora thought we would write to you. I send my love to Martha A McLoud, and tell her that she must write to me before long. The volunteers left last / Monday was a week I and Father went with them to town on the cars I enjoyed my ride very much. they took the boat as soon as they left the cars.

I saw Uncle Eaver I was very much supprised when I heard of it. He was quite well. I must close my letter for it is geting so dark I can hardly see the rulin. You must send your letter by Ruth. Excuse my bad writing.

yours truly,
S. J. Dye.
