Dear Mary I will rite a fiew lines to you this morning we are packing our duds so as to be ready we have been looking for about two or three days if we dont go to day or night I think we will stay until monday. our oficers are making out the pay roll, to morrow is payday I cant say wether we will get our pay or not if we do I will send it to you I bot a satchel & blanket this morning for a dollar and a half which I will send by Mr Simson I thought it was very cheap the blanket is some eaten but you can darn the holes and it will be very warm / I will try and send that crock home.

The boat, sucker state has come which we are to go out on & we will proberly leave some time to day George Fields is going home this morning & i will send those things by him. we was mustered for pay yesterday, but we did not get our pay but we probberly will as soon as we get to St Louis no mor at present good by for the present to you all. I am well & hope this may find you the same from your affectionate husband O Shibly
