I was told to day that our Sutler was going home in a day or two. if he does I think I will send it with him. we think some of sending home our over coats & some of our blankets. I think I will send a pair of pants & a blouse for I have mor than I can cary I dont no as we will have much marching to do, but  I have more than I want. we have drawed hats & I have drawed a new blouse & a pair of pants. my over coat is as good as niew & I wanto send it home if I can. the weather has been / very warm here until yesterday. it was so cold that we had to wear our overcoats. it is moderating some to day. the health of our regiment is improving. I dont no as I told you of the death of Andy Bogs he died very suden. Eathel Kellog is dead, he died at Memfis, he has been sick for some time. he was troubled with the rheumatism. he got so bad that he could not walk before he went away. Tomis Robinson is very sick I think he will not live long he has been sick more than two months if they had done him justice they would have sent him up the river long ago. now I will tell you about our officers, Mr Joseph Evens is our Captain & that cused old handy is to blame. if it had not been for that election Landon would have been our captain, but now he is our second Lieut, / old Handy will go home as soon as he can & I think Colonel Smith will let him go as soon as he makes aplications for a discharge, & I wish to god he would to morrow, for he is a nusence to the company.

I thought I wouldent risk eny more this time I paid the expressage, it is two cts on a dollar. I will send you $10 or 15 dollars more as soon as I have a chance I think we will get our pay up to / the first of March in a week or two. if we do I will have all I wanto use without keeping much of what I now have. Mary if you can get that note of Balls for half or two thirds the face I think you had better do so. I think John can make a traid with them. you can tell more about it than I can, for you know how the times are beter than I do. if you can use the money to a better advantag you can do so. in the first place I want you should use all you want. we have just had orders to be ready in a moments warning to march, with 2 weeks provitions, to take nothing but our blankets a fiew cooking utensils. we may go & we ma stay here four weeks yet Landon is well, & sais Vrooman the boys are generaly in good health. as for my self I am as harty as a buck, I cant jump quite as high, but I think I will do. so good by for this time
