Dear Mollie, we have landed at this point after 4 days marching we arived here last night it is about 60 miles I think we will leave here to day. we are marching on jackson. we crossed the river last night. we had a fight here & whiped the rebs & captured 6 of their heavest guns & about 500 prisoners. they are leaving Vixburg. they are afraid we will distroy the bridge / that crosses black river & they mean to prevent it if they can. I think we will have a big fight at that place. if we succeed in distroying that bridge they wont fight at vixburg. I received your letter of the 17, the 3. I was glad to hear that you was all well. I havent time to write much more for we will leave here soon direct your letters as usual I started with my napsack & left it on a wagon with some of the rest & they left all of them on the road they are going to take them all back to camp / my portfolio & paper was in it so I have no paper except the one sheet you sent in your last leter. I got those stamps I am well and harty with the exception of my eyes. they are about the same my feet are some sore but I think they will get over it in a day or two. the boys are all well & feel well. no more this time. from your affectionate husband.
